Halloween is here in Philly, with the final weekend of October serving up fun and frights galore.
In addition to the nightly Terror Behind the Walls scare factory, visitors have their pick of several themed events and parties. The Moshulu hosts three separate bashes, plus a dining experience (Saturday); Philly Improv Theatre puts a sketch twist on horror film characters (all weekend); and The Philly POPS provide a live score for The Nightmare Before Christmas (Friday).
Those in search of all-ages fall fun can check out the Peddler’s Village Spooktacular (Friday) for trick-or-treating, and two Saturday festivals: South Street Fall PumpkinFest and East Passyunk Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday.
Saturday and Sunday get off to an early start with the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. The rowing event — one of the largest in the world — typically draws upward of 25,000 spectators to the banks of the Schuylkill River to cheer on athletes at the high school level through world champions.
And on Sunday, the Barnes Foundation debuts its latest exhibit, 30 Americans. Thirty of the country’s most influential contemporary African American artists, many out and all allies, are part of this groundbreaking expression of identity against a backdrop of prejudice.
Book the perks-packed Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package for an easy start to the long weekend. Valued at up to $214, the package is a great base itinerary featuring free hotel parking, free tickets to select museums and a $25 restaurant card for Garces Group Philadelphia restaurants, plus passes for the PHLASH Downtown Loop for traveling around the city.
